Formal conference sessions will be held at Ocean Networks Canada facility at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC Canada. The following is a draft program for IPMEN 2023 and the final program should be available by early April 2023.
Monday July 17: Arrival in Victoria
- All IPMEN 2023 delegates should arrive in Victoria by Monday July 17
- 5 pm to 6 pm conference registration
- Informal conference welcome function
- First night in conference accommodation
Tuesday July18: Conference Day 1
- 9 am to 10 am conference registration
- 10 am to 1 pm – Strand 1: linking TEK and Ocean Literacy (ocean voyaging)
- 1 pm to 2 pm – lunch at conference venue
- 2 pm to 4.30 pm – Strand 2: protocols for meaningful TEK engagement
- 5 pm to 6 pm – virtual Talanoa (pre-recorded and live presentation web-based follow-up)
- Second night in conference accommodation
Wednesday July 19: Conference Day 2
- 9 am to 12 noon – field trip – TEK themed half-day cruise
- 1 pm to 2 pm – lunch at conference venue
- 2 pm to 5 pm – TEK themed workshops
- Evening – Conference Dinner
- Third night in conference accommodation
Thursday July 20: conference Day 3
- 9 am to 1 pm – Strand 3: linking TEK and Ocean Literacy (focus on tsunamis)
- 1 pm to 2 pm – lunch ideally at conference venue
- 2 pm to 3.30 pm – Strand 4: exemplary programs that link TEK to Ocean Literacy
- 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm – IPMEN forward planning meeting – 2023 to 2030
- 5 pm to 6 pm – virtual Talanoa (pre-recorded and live presentation web-based follow-up)
- Fourth night in conference accommodation
Friday July 21: Travel to Bellingham or home
- We are planning to provide NMEA 2023 conference delegates with a travel package from Victoria BC to Bellingham WA so stay tuned for details
- Other delegates retrace their steps (flights or ferries) home
