As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the  IPMEN 2020 conference “One Ocean, Many Connections” originally scheduled for July 9 to 12, 2020 in Honolulu, Hawai‘i has now been rescheduled to be held from July 7 to 10, 2021 at the same venue in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

Frequently asked questions about this change

The rescheduled IPMEN 2021 conference will still be held in Honolulu, Hawai’i at the Hawai’i Pacific University. We have simply shifted all aspects of the conference forward 12 months to July 2021 so lease be patient as we update our website to reflect the decision to reschedule the conference. We have put together the following FAQ with answers to some questions you may have about the impact of our decision to reschedule. 1.What happens if I have already registered for IPMEN 2020?

We will contact all the delegates who have already registered for IPMEN 2020 to outline their options.

2. Do I have to re-submit a proposal for IPMEN 2021?

We will contact all the delegates who have already submitted a presentation for IPMEN 2020 to outline their options.

3. What should I do with my hotel registration for IPMEN 2020?

If you made a reservation at the Aston at Executive Centre Hotel please cancel this hotel reservation directly with the hotel. Ideally you will be able to re-book later when we have a new block of rooms set aside for the 2021 conference.

4. What should I so if I purchased an airfare for IPMEN 2020?

Airlines are responding to the COVID-19 crisis differently so please contact your airline or travel agent directly to find out what your options are.

5. Will there be a virtual IPMEN 2020 meeting?

The IPMEN conference committee has already begun to discuss this option and has some exciting plans to maintain the movement of IPMEN cultural connections and our commitment to understanding the ocean. Please stay tuned as these plans evolve.

6. What about the NMEA 2020 conference?

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NMEA 2020 Annual Conference has been postponed until July 12–16, 2021. The conference will still be held in Honolulu, Hawai’i at the Ala Moana Hotel. Details can be found at NMEA 2021.
