As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the  IPMEN 2020 conference “One Ocean, Many Connections” originally scheduled for July 9 to 12, 2020 in Honolulu, Hawai‘i was rescheduled to be held from July 7 to 10, 2021 at the same venue in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. However, as of October 2020 it was  clear to the IPMEN 2021 conference committee that the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic had not not improved we have been forced to cancel the conference.

Frequently asked questions about this cancellation

We have put together the following FAQ with answers to some questions you may have about the impact of our decision to reschedule. We will continue to update this website as more details emerge, so please check back soon for more information.

1.What happens if I have already registered for IPMEN 2020?

We will contact all the delegates who have already registered for IPMEN 2020 to outline their options.

2. Do I have to re-submit a proposal for IPMEN 2021?

We will contact all the delegates who have already submitted a presentation for IPMEN 2020 to outline their options.

3. What should I do with my hotel registration for IPMEN 2020?

If you made a reservation at the Aston at Executive Centre Hotel and have not already cancelled this reservation please contact the hotel to cancel your reservation directly with the hotel.

4. What should I so if I purchased an airfare for IPMEN 2020?

Airlines are responding to the COVID-19 crisis differently so please contact your airline or travel agent directly to find out what your options are.

5. Will there now be a virtual IPMEN 2021 conference?

At this stage the answer is a tentative yes and the IPMEN conference committee has already begun to discuss this option and has some exciting plans to maintain the movement of IPMEN cultural connections and our commitment to understanding the ocean. Please stay tuned as these plans evolve.

6. What about the NMEA 2020 conference in Hawai’i?

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NMEA 2020 Annual Conference in Hawai’i was also postponed until July 12–16, 2021 and for updates on the status of this conference please visit the conference website at  NMEA 2021.
